FAQs

Will SWH work with low and mains pressure?
Yes. SWH does not alter the pressure of the cylinder; it simply circulates the water from the cylinder to the manifold and back.

Can SWH be connected to a wet back?
Yes. But the wetback can only be connected to a low pressure system. If it is mains pressure cylinder, the wetback will need to be connected to a closed loop coil and open vented.

Can I use my existing standard cylinder?
Yes. By using a 5 way valve, but it won't perform as well as a Solar Ready cylinder.

Will it work in the winter?
Yes, but it will not be as efficient as the summer months. However the savings of 75% takes winter into account.

Will it work with under floor heating and radiators?
No, but it will assist by providing preheated water. The under floor heating and radiators will still need a primary heat source to work efficiently.

Can it work with both gas and electric cylinders?
Yes, although electric boost is a more efficient system because the boost element can be turned on and off at predetermined times by the Controller. This is not possible with gas.

What happens if a tube breaks?
A broken tube can be changed easily, just like changing a light bulb and the system will continues to work.

Will the water boil over when I'm on holiday?
No, the system will shut the pump down when the temperature in the cylinder reaches >90 degrees and the water stays in the manifold. A solar air relief valve attached to the manifold will vent excess heat to avoid boiling, but it will not dump any water on the roof.

Will the water freeze in winter?
No. When the water temperature in the manifold drops to < 5 degrees Celsius, the pump back circulates a small amount of water from the cylinder. However, in extreme cold conditions, a closed loop system filled with glycol is recommended.

Does it comply with all the building codes?
Yes it does and we provide supporting documentation to assist in the application for consent.

Does it qualify for the $1000.00 Government rebate scheme?
Yes but it's based on individual system costs. If the total cost is below the threshold, it will apply.
